King witnesses Trooping of Colours in conjunction of birthday

Hundreds of people gathered at Independence Square as they joined His Majesty Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin and Tuanku Nur Zahirah to celebrate the King’s official birthday in Kuala Lumpur.

The King arrived at 8am, and was greeted by the national anthem followed by a 21-gun salute. He then boarded an open-top vehicle to inspect the guard-of-honour mounted by the Malaysian Armed Forces.

During the inspection, five helicopters bearing a flag each – the Jalur Gemilang, the Armed Forces Flag, the Royal Malaysian Army flag, Royal Malaysian Air Force flag and Royal Malaysian Navy flag – made a fly pass over Dataran Merdeka. Prime Minister Najib Razak and Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin also witnessed the hour-long ceremony.

8th Asian Youth Girl’s Volleyball Championship

Japan defeated China to win the 8th Youth Girl’s Volleyball Championships in Kuala Lumpur. Japan trounced China by 3 straight games to win the title while Thailand defeated Korea for the 3rd place. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

This championship will also serve as the qualification tournament of the 1st Youth Olympic Games in Singapore and the 2011 World Youth Girl’s Championship where the Top winner will representing the Asian Volleyball Confederation.

Color of Malaysia 2010

About 5,500 dancers performing the traditional dance and folk song during the cultural show of the Color of 1Malaysia at Independence Square in Kuala Lumpur.

The traditional dance and song that are shown during this event are from various enthnics in Malaysia. The peak of the event are Dikir Barat, the local Kelantanese traditional song and dance that was performs by 5,500 dancers. This Dikir Barat are to be set in the Malaysia Book of Record as the biggest Dikir Barat ever perform in Malaysia.

The three hours colorful cultural event was perform by secondary school children and adult from local school and art and cultural institute in Kuala Lumpur. Color of 1Malaysia is yearly program conducted by Malaysia’s Ministry of Cultural, Art and Tourism as one a tourist attraction.

6th World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF)

Malaysia’s Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak officiated the 6th World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) opening ceremony in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Along with Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak, there was King of Brunei Darussalam Sultan Hasanal Bolkiah, President of the Republic of Senegal Abdoulaye Wade, President of the Republic of Indonesia Dr Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, President of the Republic of Kosovo Dr Fathir Sejdiu, President of the Republic of Maldives Mohamed Nasheed and Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina.

The theme of the 6th WIEF was “Gearing for Economic Resurgence” and is held in Kuala Lumpur from the19th to 20th May 2010.

2010 Worker’s Day celebration

Over 5,000 Malaysian workers representing government agencies and the private sector attended the gathering for 2010 Workers’ Day celebration at the Malaysia International Exhibition and Convention Centre at the Mines Resort City in Selangor. Selangor, Malaysia. 08/05/2010

The gathering was launch by Malaysia Prime Minister,Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. During his speech, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak wants employers to treat local workers fairly, including paying better salaries, and not make excuses to hire foreign workers. Also present was Human Resources Minister Datuk Dr S. Subramaniam.
